SALAH KEILANI

Born in Al Tall (Syria) the 6th of February 1944 and graduated in Modern and Middle Age History from the University of Damascus in 1969. He has also achieved a Diploma in painting (Damascus) and a Diploma in decor from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome (1978).

His paintings show love for nature and the landscape of the Syrian countryside, in particular the fascinating area of Maaloula with its harmonious and bright colours.

The kind of environments that he paints are mainly reflected in places of natural habitat away from the stresses of modern urban life. Tranquillity plays an important role in his paintings in addition to natural and animal life.

In 1971 he organised several personal exhibitions between Syria and Italy. Some of the most recent being “Between Rome and Damascus”, (Syria-2001) which was inaugurated by the former Prime Minister M.M. Miro and in Rome (2003) at the Islamic Cultural Centre.

He has taken part in numerous other joint exhibitions where his art has been displayed amongst other artists’ work in Syria, Italy and the Gulf countries.

At the moment, he is dedicating most of his time and passion for painting and art between Syria and Italy.
